Nobody wants to hear the dreaded prognosis Â?nothing more can be done,Â? unfortunately, many people in the community do hear these words from their physicians.

The Sudbury Regional Palliative Care Association assists terminally ill clients and their families through this difficult time in their life.

As the number of terminally ill people increases in the community, so too does the need for specially trained palliative care volunteers, says the SRPCA.

They are offering new volunteer training sessions this fall. However, to complete the training, volunteers must go through a screening process that takes four to five weeks to complete.

In order to complete the training session in the fall, potential volunteers need to contact the SRPCA before Aug. 31 to start the screening process.

The volunteer training sessions will be held on Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 4-6.

Contact SRPCA at 677-0077 for more information or to obtain an application form.
