Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry water bombers are filling up at Whitson Lake and making passes over a forest fire east of MR 80 behind Tracks & Wheels.

Greater Sudbury Fire and Emergency Services received a call about the fire at around 3:55 p.m. on July 16 and have been assisting the MNRF in monitoring the blaze.

"The fire is about four acres in size and is moving northeast," said GSFS platoon chief Andre Groulx. "It was going pretty good when we got over there and the water bombers have been going over. Obviously boaters or anyone in the area of the lake are being asked to stay clear of the planes."
