The Polaris Way out Women are taking their message about breast cancer on the trail, the snowmobile trails of Canada.

The International Way Out Women Relay, a cross-continental snowmobile relay by women to raise funds for breast cancer research took off this week from St. John?s, Newfoundland.

The Ontario team comprised of Janet Lachapelle from Blind River, Heather Mehlenbacher from Fergus and Nancy Ord from Parry Sound will start their relay portion in Ottawa this Monday (Jan. 30) and will travel to Thunder Bay where they will relay to the Manitoba team on Feb. 6.

The community can come out to support the Ontario Team members while they pass through Sudbury on Wednesday. Feb. 1 at a dinner sponsored by Shop Industrial at Pat and Mario?s.

Shop Industrial will also be sponsoring a breakfast on Feb 2 at Chateau Guay Restauranton Hwy. 17 W. in Sudbury

All three women have either family and/or friends who had breast cancer. Janet Lachapelle has been snowmobiling for 25 years now and felt it was a good way for her to support a special friend living with cancer.

Lachapelle says they will be riding 100-120 miles per day over 8 days.

?You have to love snowmobiling and not mind the cold,? says Lachapelle. ?Everybody knows someone who has cancer, let?s help out.?

All team members in the relay across Canada will be posting journal entries everyday at www.polarisindustries.com.

Polaris Industries is the main sponsor of the relay and is providing the snow machines, riding gear and support vehicles. A new sponsor has been added Shell Canada which will be donating gasoline for the snow machines from Newfoundland to British Columbia.
