Greater Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez and council have extended the date for residents to sign a book of well wishes for Corporal William Kerr to Thursday, November 13.

Cpl. Bill Kerr is a reservist in the Second Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada who sustained critical injuries in Kandahar City while serving on a tour of duty in Afghanistan, on Oct. 15, 2008. He is a resident of Sudbury.

Cadets from Sudbury, Capreol and Naughton paraded into council chambers last Wednesday, bringing with them the book in a show of support.

“I am deeply touched by your presence,” said priorities committee chair Janet Gasparini, as dozens of cadets arrived at Tom Davies Square.

“Our prayers and our hearts go out to Cpl. Kerr's family, his friends, and his fellow soldiers,” said Mayor Rodriguez.

The book of well wishes is available for signing in the main foyer of Tom Davies Square, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and at all Citizen Service Centres during regular business hours.

The book will be forwarded to Cpl. Kerr's family on behalf of the City of Greater Sudbury.
