What's open and what's closed for the holidays

All municipal public buildings operated by the City of Greater Sudbury will close from Dec. 25 to 28 and on Jan. 1. Municipal facilities will close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31.

There will be no household garbage, organics, or Blue Box collection on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Collection service will be rescheduled from Dec. 25 to Dec. 28 and from Jan. 1 to Jan. 4. Landfills and the Recycling Centre will also close on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Greater Sudbury public libraries will close from Dec. 25 to 28 and on Jan. 1. Please call your nearest branch for operating hours or visit www.sudbury.library.on.ca.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service's collision reporting centre will also have special holiday hours. On Christmas Eve, they will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be closed on Christmas and Boxing days. Please note that police are still available for emergencies by calling 9-1-1.

Most stores in Ontario will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Some exemptions exist, including: book or magazine stores under 2,400 square feet with a maximum of three employees, pharmacies under 7,500 square feet.

Flower shops and gas stations are also exempted.
