Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited of Sudbury kicks off their annual winter clothing drive on Sept. 18.
The clothing drive will run to Nov. 8 in support of Our Children Our Future in Sudbury servicing the Districts of Sudbury/Manitoulin. The official launch for the clothing drive will take place in the YMCA main lobby at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.
Every year Cooper Equipment Rentals looks for ways to give back to its communities in a meaningful way. In the past, Cooper employees participated in activities such as community tree planting, delivering meals to those in need and volunteering their time at non-profit organizations.
"Supporting local communities is a core mandate of Cooper. Every year, we look to our employees to provide suggestions on how we can help our communities to stay safe and prosperous," said Derek Cashmore, Cooper regional sales manager, in a press release.
"The winter clothing drive is an initiative which all of our employees rally behind, and we are proud to support this great cause."
Last year, the generous community donated more than 3,600 coats and snow suits, 400 pairs of boots and more than 6,500 winter accessories such as toques, scarves and mittens to children and families in need.
The original goal of outfitting more than 2,000 people was surpassed.
This year, Cooper has partnered with 67 supporters to date and hope to collect winter clothing items for 4,500 children and families in need in the community including 45 Rainbow Board elementary and secondary schools.
