Sudbury Wolves play Chase Coughlan landed his ninth goal of the season on Friday.

The Sudbury Wolves had everything working for them on Friday night at home, and were led to a 5-2 victory over the Erie Otters.

It was Shorsey night at the Sudbury Arena, with the Sudbury Wolves wearing their special Blueberry Bulldogs jerseys, which are worn by the cast of Shorsey and to be auctioned for charity after the game.

Goaltender Finn Marshall, who was the backup goalie in the game, and forward Ondrej Molnar, made their returns to the Wolves’ lineup after missing a number of games due to injury.

Quentin Musty remains out with a broken hand.

Nate Krawchuk was the starting goaltender for the Sudbury Wolves while Charlie Burns got the nod in goal for the Erie Otters.

The Otters got the scoring start at the 11:08 mark of the first period with Wesley Royston’s seventh goal of the season to give Erie a 1-0 lead.

With 5:12 left to play in the opening period Kocha Delic scored his fifth goal of the season for Sudbury to tie the game 1-1 after the first 20 minutes of play.

Under four minutes into the second period the Sudbury Wolves took a 2-1 lead thanks to Chase Coughlan’s ninth goal of the season, his first goal in 13 games.

With 5:59 remaining in the middle frame and while on the penalty kill, Blake Clayton scored his fourth goal of the season to give the Sudbury Wolves a 3-1 lead.

With just over five minutes left in the second, also while on the penalty kill, Ethan Dean scored his long awaited first career Ontario Hockey League goal, giving Sudbury a 4-1 lead with one period left to play in the hockey game.

7:29 into the third period, with the Sudbury Wolves on the power play with the man advantage, Nathan Villeneuve scored his ninth goal of the season to increase the Wolves’ lead to 5-1.

With 2:06 left to play the Otters scored once more, with Malcolm Spence scoring his 13th goal of the season, but that was as close as the Erie Otters would get in this game, and the Sudbury Wolves secured a 5-2 win on home ice over the Erie Otters.

With the win, the Sudbury Wolves now hold a record of 13 wins, eight regulation losses, and 4 overtime losses on the season.

The Sudbury Wolves get right back at it on Saturday night, when the Flint Firebirds roll into town for a game against Sudbury with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Sudbury Wolves will be holding a giveaway, where the first fans to arrive will receive a cowboy hat with the Sudbury Wolves logo in honour of “Stompin’” Tom Connors.
