The YMCA has announced that new sessions have been added to its 2019 overnight camping schedule at John Island Camp.

This is YMCA John Island Camp's 65th year of providing overnight camp experiences for youth in Northern Ontario.

A Mini Camp for boys and girls ages six to 12 will be offered June 14-16.

This is a great way for young children to get introduced to overnight camping for the first time or to get into the camping spirit prior to the main summer sessions, said a press release.

Also, a new session of overnight camping for Little Guys and Gals ages six to 10 years old will be held Aug. 19-23. This is in addition to the earlier session from July 1-5.

Returning this summer is the camp's popular Sea Kayaking program for 11- to 14-year -olds.

Registration continues for all of the regular John Island Camp sessions including Youth Camp for youth up to 14 years, Adventure Camp for seven to 14 year olds and the Explorer Canoe Program for 13 to 15 year olds.

Some vacancies are still available for 15 and 16-year-olds in the John Island Greenway and Norquay Leadership programs as well.

For more information, or to register, visit the John Island Camp website at www.johnisland.ymca.ca or phone the camp office at the YMCA at 705-674-6171.
