If you've happened to look in the direction of the Superstack lately, you might have noticed the warning lights aren't blinking on the city's biggest chimney.

Sudbury.com was contacted by a reader about the lack of lights, concerned about the potential hazard for aircraft.

Danica Pagnutti from Vale's corporate and Indigenous affairs office told Sudbury.com the company has been doing maintenance on the Superstack lighting for the past couple of weeks, hence the unlit stack. Nav Canada was informed of the work to ensure aircraft are aware.

The work was scheduled to be completed Dec. 3.
