BY DIANE GILHULA A new eatery promising to be part restaurant and part theatre has just opened at Market Square in downtown Sudbury.

BY RICK PUSIAK As expected, the City of Greater Sudbury will soon be smoke free. City council unanimously passed a motion Thursday night that will see a 100 per cent ban on smoking in public places and workplaces as of May 31.

Nobody wants to hear the dreaded prognosis Â?nothing more can be done,Â? unfortunately, many people in the community do hear these words from their physicians.

Taxpayers will likely be asked to dip into their own pockets to pay for capital overruns at Sudbury?s superhospital.

By Rick Pusiak The last student assembly at Northeastern Secondary School was an emotional one. Students and staff were visibly moved Monday morning as principal Anna Barsanti gave the last ?group goodbye? in the school gym.

The minister responsible for women?s issues, Dianne Cunningham, has announced $2.3 million in funding for 27 community organizations working to help women create economic opportunities and increase their safety.

BY RICK PUSIAK Workers at Marketeers Call Center got the answer they probably didnÂ?t want to hear after waiting two weeks for their pay cheques. The mayor told them. Marketeers has declared bankruptcy.

The Northern Ontario Wild Blueberry Co-operative has received a federal grant of just over $43,000. The announcement was made earlier this week by Nickel Belt MP Ray Bonin.

Patricia Baton, is the project co-ordinator for the Stepping Stone loan program. The program is an alternative lending and credit program for small businesses.
