Our annual 12 Days of Kindness campaign is really coming along

But you’ll have to wait until mid-December to see who is receiving an AOK this year

Hello Sudbury.com+ members! Well December is just a few days away now, which means 2020 is quickly drawing to a close.

It also means Christmas is just around the corner and I have an embarrassing amount of holiday shopping still to do.

December also means something else here at Sudbury.com: it is 12 Days of Kindness season again.

If you’re unfamiliar, every December Sudbury.com launches our 12 Days of Kindness campaign wherein, for 12 days leading up to Dec. 25, we deliver kindness to 12 deserving Sudburians.

You’ve probably seen our own Heather Green-Oliver in her distinctive blue Sudbury.com jacket and jaunty Santa hat on ads on the website already. You may even have seen Heather in one of the many 12 Days of Kindness videos we’ve done over the years.

Heather is the driving force behind our AOKs (our affectionate acronym for Acts of Kindness). Besides being the face of the campaign, Heather conceives the videos, decides how to tell the story and edits the final product.

What’s more, Heather also reaches out to our many supporters to secure gifts and items to be presented to our AOK recipients.

It’s more than a full-time job from November through December. Heather is the lead, but producing the videos is very much a team effort, involving evaluating and choosing recipients, marketing, sources gifts and filming the videos.

And while it is certainly a lot of work, we love doing it. We love brightening someone’s day or making a small difference in their lives. And we know the many businesses and organizations that support the 12 Days of Kindness love it, too; they tell us they do. And they come back year after year to take part.

Kindness is contagious, we like to say. It’s kind of our mantra around here. And we are chomping at the bit to spread more kindness around very soon.

Now, while I can’t let any cats out of the bag when it comes to some of the amazing stories we’ll be sharing during this year’s 12 Days of Kindness, I can offer you, our Sudbury.com+ members, a bit of a sneak peek with some behind-the-scenes photos from the AOK videos we have filmed so far this year.

So check them out while we work to get all 12 videos ready for release and while we share a little kindness with 12 deserving Sudburians.
