Third bail hearing set for Loon Lake man facing child porn charges

A third bail hearing is scheduled in Saskatoon Provincial Court for a Loon Lake man charged with numerous child luring offences.

A third bail hearing is scheduled in Saskatoon Provincial Court for a Loon Lake man charged with numerous child luring offences.

Steven Joseph Lasas, 26, is charged with possession of child porn, making child porn, two counts of luring a child to facilitate an offence and obtaining for consideration the sexual services of a person under 18.

Lasas was arrested on Jan. 22 after Saskatchewan ICE and Saskatoon Police executed a search warrant where he was temporarily residing and seized his cell phone for further forensic analysis and to identify other possible child victims.

The investigation was launched after a grandparent contacted Saskatoon Police Service saying her young grandson was being sexually lured through a popular social media application.

The investigation by Saskatchewan ICE identified Lasas as the suspect and where he was located in Saskatoon.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit investigates crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet. The unit consists of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service.

Lasas had show cause hearings on Feb. 11 and Feb. 26. A third hearing is scheduled for March 25.
