It is with great sadness for our loss but great joy for dad as he was called home to join our mom Eileen.  Alfred Armstrong passed away January 8, 2021 peacefully with family by his side at the age of 94 years.  Born in County Cavan, Ireland October 1,1926 to James and Eliza (Huggins). Loving husband of Eileen Armstrong (Doran) (predeceased July 2020). Loving father of Roger Cloutier (Carole), Robert (Jamie), Patricia (Robert Racette), Elizabeth (Steve Green), Colleen (Guy Lagace), Erin (Paul Lafantaisie), Keith ( Suzanne), Glenda (Kevin Marcoux), Brian (Laurie).  Treasured Papa/Grampa to Robert, Michelle, Stephen, Brittney, Krista, Andrea, Andrew, Rebecca, Tyler, Dan, Paul, Jesse, Kaitlin, Seanna, James, Kyra, Cody, Ashley & Ryleigh.  Great grandfather to Julien, Madilynn, Kohl,  (predeceased 2016), Khloe, Audrey, Adrien, Emmy, Annabelle, Zachary, & Landon.  Brother to Ruby and Anna (Ireland ). Predeceased by his sister Betty and his brothers Robert, Seamus, Jervis all of Ireland.   Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Alfred came to Canada in 1952 and worked with the Copper Cliff Police force until 1972 and then as a Plant Protection Officer with Inco until his retirement in 1991.  He enjoyed a full life that included many years of camping on Manitoulin Island where he was known to his fellow campers/friends as  Mayor of Maple Grove.  He was a jack of all trades and was always willing to help others with any job, big or small.  If you had a problem Dad was the one to call.  Family was important to him and he never missed an opportunity to attend a family celebration. He lived an active life and kept his mind sharp playing cards and doing crossword and number fill in puzzles until his health started failing in his  93rd year. He enjoyed watching football, curling and loved the game of  crib. His last game of crib played was Jan 1,  2021.

The family would like to express deep gratitude and thanks for the staff, PSW’s and nurses at Pioneer Manor (York Wing) for the care and support provided to Dad during his stay.

Dad we love you and will miss you everyday.  Forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace.

Due to COVID-19 there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In Alfred’s memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke or Church of the Epiphany would be greatly appreciated.
