In loving memory of Frank Bede who passed away peacefully Friday, May 13th.

Born April 21st, 1925 in Trg, Croatia to Pepa (Severinski) and Mirko Bede. He married Ljuba Basar 75 years ago February 2nd, 1947 and immigrated to Sudbury in 1957. Loving father of Josie Visockas (Frank, predeceased, April 2022) and Michael (Lillian) all of Garson. Proud grandfather of Lee Visockas (predeceased, June 2016) and Kirk Visockas (Marcy) of Garson and great grandfather of Victoria Visockas. Brother Steve (Olga, Nellie) all predeceased. Niece Lona (Bede) Dabous. He will be missed by extended family and friends near and far.

Frank was a man of great integrity, strength, and honour. He retired from Falconbridge with 37 years of service, never taking a sick a day. He spent countless hours puttering around their beautiful home and gardens. He took great pride in making and sharing a variety of smoked meats, cheese and tasty wine from fresh grapes that he & Ljuba painstakingly destemmed prior to crushing to ensure the highest quality product. However, July and August were reserved for blueberry picking – often dawn to dusk. Not one to sit still prior to being struck down by illness, Frank would often be seen taking long walks through the streets of Garson. Although they called Canada home, they treasured every trip back to their homeland to visit with family with friends. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the local Croatian community, as well as being a member of Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church. Over the years Frank and Ljuba attended many wonderful and festive events at their parish and the Croatian Hall.

The family wishes to thank everyone from personal support workers, volunteers, nurses, doctors, social workers, other residents and the many loving hands that helped Frank daily during his stay at St. Gabriel’s. The residents, staff and volunteers went from strangers to friends and confidants. We cannot thank you enough for your genuine compassion and all that you did through some of the most challenging times. We appreciate each and every one of you.

Bye for now Tata, we love you, give our love to LeeLee & Frankie.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church or Sudbury Food Bank. Thank you.
