It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Arthur J. Belland who peacefully passed away at HSN at the tender age of 91 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Henry Belland and the late Rose (nee Garon). Arthur was the husband and best friend of Norma (nee Milani) for 71 wonderful years. He was the Loving Father of Carol Giasson (Gerry), Brian (Angela), Douglas (Rhonda) and Neil (Donna). Dear brother of the late Irene Deshevy, the late Marianne Vaillancourt, the late Armand Belland and Willy Belland. Proud Nonno of Melanie, Stacey, Tara, Jana, Megan, Tyler, Cody, Jason and Kelly. Extra proud B-Nonno of Carson, Leah, Olivia, Ben, Avah, Van, Troy, Tyson, Cade, and Amelia. He had a special place in his heart for each and every one of them. He will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends for his kind and gentle nature. Art was born in Britt Ontario where he started his career working for the C.P.R. at the age of 13. The family moved to Sudbury in 1968 and after 42 years of dedicated service he enjoyed 36 years of retirement. Along with his full-time job he had many skills that kept him in demand for, as he called them, “little side jobs”. He always had extra jobs on the go whether it be home renovations, skate sharpening, T.V. repair, Bicycle repairs, locksmithing or upholstery. You name it, he could do it. He also had many hobbies. A couple of favorites were restoring antique cars, namely a 1917 model T, a 1930 model A and his pride and joy the 1931 Ford Deluxe Roadster. He enjoyed building clocks of all kinds and spent countless hours on his wood carvings.  His most famous line was “Not bad for grade 8”. With so much on the go, we all wonder how he always had the time to be the loving Family Man he was. It is safe to say that Art was a man of integrity, and all those who knew him would agree. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the Doctors, Nurses, P.S.W.’s, Physio therapists and all Support Staff on the 4th floor, north tower at HSN. Your excellent care and genuine compassion were much appreciated. It was a great comfort to know he was in good hands during the visitation restrictions in place at this time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HSN Neo Kids Foundation, Alzheimer Society, or the charity of your choice. A funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
