ln loving memory of Merlyn Walter Black Sr. (Merle), age 82, who passed away on August 26th, 2022, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

Born, raised, and resided in Garson, Ontario, Merlyn was a talented carpenter by trade who worked with both The City of Sudbury and Falconbridge Ltd. before his retirement in 1992. With a twinkle of his eye, he was always ready with a quick joke or funny story to brighten anyone's day. He was a lover of bluegrass music, and a talented musician, be it guitar, piano or his trusty fiddle. Merlyn played music over many years entertaining groups for functions and volunteering his time for seniors' residences. Merlyn was always willing to lend a hand to help family and friends no matter the time required to complete any project. He was a lover of nature, and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, be it hiking, ATVing, fishing or hunting.

Merlyn is predeceased by his cherished wife Theresa {nee Doskoch), and survived by both of his sons Merlyn JR and Derrick (Carrie) of Sudbury, as well as his beloved grandchildren Wyatt, Celeste, and Natasha (Robert), and great-grandchild Valerie. He is also survived by loved siblings Doris (Robert Dodgson) of Chatham, George (Helen) and sister- in- law lrma Black (Edmund) of Sudbury. ln addition to the many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved parents George Edward Black and Alice (nee Smith), siblings Osra (Roger Leblanc), Verna (John Neil), Ruby (Raymond “Danny” Carr), Lola (Louis Graff), Edmund, Della, and special brother Martin Villemere (Evelyn).

Memorial Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1pm. (Friends may gather after 12:30pm Saturday, October 22, 2022).
