In loving memory of Guy Blanchette 82 years. Passed away at Health Sciences North on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022.

Best friend and soul mate to his beloved wife of 61 years Diane (nee Brignolio). Loving father of Greg of Capreol and Brian predeceased. Predeceased by his parents Wilbrod and Idelma Blanchette (nee Ouellette), and siblings Roger (Donna), Marcel (Aurore), Carmen Kaye (Warren Eisner, Peter Kaye), and Evelyn Goldberg (Art). Survived by his brother Richard (Denise) of Val Caron, and Lou (Evelyn) of Hanmer. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Guy was born in Sturgeon Falls on February 7th, 1940. He worked at the CNR, Moose Mountain Mine and Falconbridge Mine in the Warehouse Department. He owned and operated Hanmer Pro Hardware in the Hanmer Shopping Centre with his wife and 2 sons for 10 years. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Capreol. He devoted a lot of his time to volunteering with Diane at many organizations such as the Capreol X-Country Ski Club for 20 years, and Blood Services in Capreol for 5 years. He also played music in all of the retirement homes in Sudbury and surrounding areas with the band called Rhythm Pals.

He enjoyed X-Country skiing at the Capreol Ski Club, curling, golfing, casino trips down south and the United States. He was a good-natured man, very kind and generous. He was a devoted husband and father and loved to kid around with family and friends.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff, nurses at Health Sciences North – 5 South and to doctors Dr. Roch and Dr. Messenger for their care.

There will be no visitation or service. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. He will be buried alongside his son Brian in the Capreol Cemetery in the spring, a date will be announced with a celebration of life to follow.
