 (1926-2023)

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Vladimir Blechta in Sudbury, Saturday February 4th 2023,  at the age of 97 years. Son of the late Dr. Frantisek Blechta and of the late Marie Stiebalova. Loving husband of the late Dobroslava (née Linkova). Dear father of George (Huguette) and Zdenek (Deborah). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Natalie, Jason, Ian, Lauren, Amié, Alexander and his great grand-children Annaliese, Luke, Patrick, Ellie Lynne and Linda. Predeceased by his brother, Ing Zdinard Blechta.

Vladimir was a PHD Chemical Engineer who comes from a long line of engineers. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 with his wife and his two young sons. He made Sudbury his home, learning English and working for INCO until 1991.

Vladimir enjoyed the outdoors, exploring Canada and especially canoeing on our plentiful lakes. He organized many annual canoe trips originally with his two sons, then including his grand-children.

In his later years he enjoyed making his own bread on a weekly basis and spending time on his computers.

History has proven that the Blechta family has had a long history of having bestowed upon them the title of Czech Knight, recognizing their social status in their country. Their personal family coat of arms attest to their involvement and contribution to the development of their country.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of The North, Sudbury.
