It is with the heaviest of hearts his family announces the sudden passing of James Gerard Gilmour Brady on September 18, 2023 at the age of 34.
On April 26, 1989 James "Pinecone" Brady was born to Carol Lamirande (Predeceased) and Michael Brady. He lived his first years of life in Cobalt, grew up in North Bay and moved to Sudbury, Ontario with his family in 2002.
James' sense of humor, love for music and fun spirit will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved him: his parents Mike and Michelle Brady, sisters Maggie and Kate Brady (Zack Stanger), his nephew Syd Stanger, nieces Rosie, Lily, and Dahlia Stanger, and his extended family. Left to mourn his absence are countless friends who became family including Marc Ouellette, Stefan Rocca, Alison Aguonie and Dwayne Trudeau - to name a few amongst so many.
James was a gifted singer and multi-instrumentalist. Adding his own unique style to a wide variety of genres, his music inspired thoughts and feelings, and uplifted those he played for.
James was highly-skilled and incredibly hard working - traits he developed at a very young age. He spent years bricklaying, building, and fixing a huge variety of things. Passionate about caring for animals, James fostered, adopted, rescued and found homes for so many animals. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible in nature: canoeing, hiking, foraging and exploring. James will be remembered for his authenticity, music and friendship.
Baamaapii James.
A Celebration of Life for James will take place Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Jackson Barnard, 233 Larch St. Sudbury from 11 am – 3 pm. Words of Remembrance will begin at 2 pm where family and friends are welcome to share personal stories about James. Light refreshments will be available during the event.
At the request of his family, with Sept. 30 being the Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and his passion for the rights, respect and treatment of Indigenous people, please consider wearing something orange in honour of James. If you don’t have something orange, please arrive in your most comfortable, casual clothes. James was not one for dress pants or ties.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sudbury Action Centre for Youth https://www.theactioncentre.ca/ in memory of James Brady.
