It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Michael “Mickey” Brunelle on Monday, May 22nd, 2023 at the age of 68. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after courageous battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) and cancer at the Maison McCulloch Hospice.

Beloved husband of wife Suzanne “Sue” Brunelle (nee Séguin) predeceased in 2019. Loving and devoted father of his two daughters Melanie, and Pamela, and father in law of Sam Miller and Chris Wdowiak. Much loved and special Grandpa of Marcus, and Cassie, and his grand-puppies Cosmo, Aria, and Hayley. Son of Lawrence and Eileen Brunelle both predeceased, and son-in-law of Rheal and Marguerite Séguin. Dear brother of Paulette, Bruce (Louise), and Denise (Tom), and brother-in-law of Collette (Denis), Pauline, and Rachel. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and all who knew him.

Mickey was born on May 24th, 1954 and raised in Levack. He studied aviation at Sault College and became a commercial airline pilot. He was a successful businessman for 40+ years, and owned and operated several local pharmacies, and properties, mainly in Chelmsford, Coniston, and Levack. He was a memorable and loved boss to so many. He was active in the community, and over the years was very involved in many community, and charitable organizations that he took great pride in. Mickey was a proud member of the Board of Directors and National Advisory Board for many years for Drug Trading Company Limited.

He enjoyed travelling, having bonfires, hosting parties, golfing, curling, watching hockey and baseball, and playing Qwirkle. Most of all, he loved being around his family and friends. He was an avid Sudbury Wolves fan, and a proud season ticket holder for over 30 years. Anyone who knew him, would remember him for his kindness, compassionate and caring nature. He always worried about everyone else and their well-being before his own, right up until the very end. He will be remembered as the life of the party, and loved to play pranks on his friends and neighbours. Most important to Mickey was his family. His daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was happiest when spending time with them. His absence will no doubt leave a void in our hearts, but we take great comfort knowing that he is reunited with his wife Sue.

We would like to give special thanks to the following people for their care and compassion. Thank you to Allison, Alex, Karen, Kawal, Sarah, Shone, Temi and Tobi. Also a heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful staff at the Amberwood Suites and Maison McCulloch Hospice for taking such great care of Mickey.

A celebration of his life will be held at Verdicchio’s Natura Hall (1351-D Kelly Lake Rd) on Thursday, June 1st, 2023. Family and friends are invited to drop in between 4-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Mickey’s memory would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com
