In loving memory of Georgie (Georgette) Burchell who passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2022 at Health Sciences North, just weeks short of her 95th birthday. Dearly beloved wife to Fred (predeceased) She is survived by her son John (Winda) and her daughter Jennifer (Euel Bailey- predeceased). Sister to Raymond (Francoise) Castonguay, Theresa (Marcel- predeceased) Pelland and Marc (Wilma) Castonguay She was a cherished 'Gram' to Katya and Javen, a good friend to her brothers and sisters-in-law, and beloved 'Aunt Georgie’ to her many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Aldege Castonguay, brother Cyril and sisters Fern Schryer, Sister Jeanne Castonguay and Helene Crevier. She graduated from The Sudbury School of Business ad worked as a bookkeeper for the Singer Sewing Company in Sudbury until her marriage to Frederick Burchell in 1954. They took up residence in Copper Cliff. She was very involved with the Catholic Women's League at St. Stanislaus, serving as President several times, and was active in many other community organizations and charities. She was passionate about music and she and Fred spent many years singing in the church choir and with 'The September Classics.' Wherever she was she always had her classical favorites playing.

Georgie enjoyed traveling and they made many international trips together. She was especially fond of the winters spent  in Portugal with Fred but her spring trips to Montreal to visit her sisters were always the travel highlight of the year.
She was a gracious hostess who loved entertaining. Her soirees were always a hit and her extended family has many cherished memories of Christmas on School Street. She was an avid bridge player and loved the laughter and friendship of the monthly meetings of her ladies investment club. She was a loving, supportive wife and a wonderful mother who tackled life with an incredible joie de vivre and always had a favourite quote or saying to share with others.
Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be buried next to her husband of 65 years. A celebration of their incredible life and love will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the arts organization of your choice.
