It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Byrne on November 8th, 2020. Essie Byrne (nee Keogh) was born in Coolronan, Ireland, on August 2nd, 1924. She married the love of her life, Patrick Byrne, in 1948. They immigrated to Canada in 1953 with their two children, Paddy and Breda; her brother Liam, and sister Josephine. They made their life in Onaping Falls, where they had four more children. Her family and faith were her life, and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Essie was kind, gracious, and readily adapted to the changing times. She was a curious lifelong learner who kept in touch with family and friends all over the world with her iPad, which was her lifeline to her beloved Ireland.
She touched us with her infectious optimism, and left us with an abundance of Irish sayings and wisdom. She was an example to us all on how we should live our lives.
Essie is predeceased by her husband Patrick Byrne (1988), Her son Shawn (2006)(Kim), and her daughter Breda (2017)(Stephen Lebdick). She is survived by her brother Liam Keogh, son Paddy (Sara), daughter Kathleen Mallek (John predeceased), son Brendan (Laura), and daughter Marie Parenteau (Doug); 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and her extended family in Ireland.
She loved Pioneer Manor, her last home, and she was grateful for the wonderful care and friendships made.
