He was a beloved husband and soulmate of Beverly (Kennedy) for 54 years. Devoted father to Derek (Kerry) of Massey and Susie Shiflet (Brad) of Splendora Texas. Beloved grandfather to Zack, Sarah, Laryssa and Blake. Eldon was the son of Earl and Gertrude (Steinke) Stinson. Brother to Garry (Darlene) and Dallas (Valerie), and uncle to several nieces and nephews. Eldon was a long time member of Local 800 Plumbing & Pipe Fitters Union, in Sudbury. From May 1967 to June 2022. He received his 50 year Gold Union Card in May 2017. Eldon was an avid Moose hunter and a fisherman, although I often out fished him. He loved bringing friends up the Spanish River for a great catch of Pickerel. In 1969 he established a Yamaha Snowmobile business in Webbwood, entering many snowmobile races in the area and winning numerious Trophies. He eventually sold his business to Brian Polden at Rainbow Sports & Marine in McKerrow, who later sold to Kevin Muncaster, owner of Trailside Sports in Espanola. After his retirement, Eldon cut a few cedar trees at our camp at Savage Lake, and began to carve airplanes, getting assistance from neighbour Cindy to apply finishing touches. At one time he counted 67 hanging from the ceiling in our basement. He then decided to make larger ones to attach to a 9 ft. galvanized pole for use as lawn ornaments. Cremation has taken place and Internment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Webbwood. There will be a Celebration of his Life at the Webbwood Eagles’ Club on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Family & friends are welcome to join to reminisce sharing their stories & memories. Donations to Webbwood Eagles’ Club Aerie 4269 appreciated.
