William A. Clewlow (Bill) died on Monday, March 27, 2023 in his 84th year; peacefully surrounded by family at the Ottawa Hospital (General). Beloved husband of the late Grace Lonergan (1997) and loving Father to Sharon (Paul Allaire) and Susan (Scott Murdoch); Grandpa to Owen Allaire. He is survived by his sisters Ruth Fraser (late Jack) and Kathleen Viner as well as brothers-in-law Paul (late Helen), Peter (Gladys) and Michael (Mary) Lonergan and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters-in-law Marie and Dorothy.
Bill was born in Leamington Ontario to Arthur and Clara (Mulcaster) Clewlow, and lived most of his life in Sudbury. After retirement, he moved to Ottawa to be closer to family, but Sudbury was the place he called home. He had many good friends in Sudbury but best of all his friends and neighbours aka “the Madison Avenue Gang”. Dear friend of Don Brims (late Shirley) of Hamilton and Don and Regina Riddell of Sutton, Ontario. Bill was a long time employee of Egan Real Estate and subsequently Appraisals North Realty, as a real estate appraiser and broker. After retiring, he was a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society for 11 years. He was known for his sharp mind and excellent memory, which he retained up to the end. Bill loved to watch sports and you could always find him cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan Wolverines – Go Blue!
The family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary care from the Ottawa Hospital (General) and particularly the Hematology team and Dr. Arleigh McCurdy. Memorial contributions to Myeloma Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society would be welcome. By Bill’s request, cremation followed by a private burial.
