The Conibear family announce with great sorrow the passing of Richard Wayne Conibear on Sunday, January 10th, 2021. Rick passed away peacefully at the age of 66, on his own terms and with great dignity, after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born on September 2nd, 1954, the son of Kenneth Conibear (predeceased) and Margaret (Dickout) Conibear of Garson. He is survived by his mother, Marg, brother Paul of Vancouver, niece and nephew Alexandra and Kevin Conibear of Toronto, and niece Kylie Conibear, residing in New York City. Rick will be remembered for his incredible patience with and perseverance through several physical challenges that he faced throughout his life. He always displayed genuine, unconditional love and kindness to family and friends closest to him. His favourite pastimes were bowling, card playing, and periodic long bus trips to see interesting parts of Canada and the US. Due to the current pandemic, a family service will be conducted on January 17th, 2021 at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, followed at a later date with a memorial service to be held when COVID-19 allows. The family would like to acknowledge the incredible care and support provided throughout Rick’s final journey by the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Sudbury Northeast Cancer Center, the Maison McCulloch Hospice, and community agencies.
