It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing on October 13 at the age of 79 years. Beloved daughter of Robert and Priscilla Stephenson. Married 60 years to the love of her life, Stewart Cowie. Amazing mom to Andrew, the late Pamela Pierce and Cindy Tremblay (Patrick). Special Nanny to Johnathon, Daniel, Emily and Ian and great-Nanny to Darius and Kylie. Sandra will be remembered for her unique sense of humour and generosity of spirit, always putting others before herself. If you were her friend, it was for life. Be it a thoughtful card, a phone call or a visit, there was never any doubt she would be there when you needed her. Windy Lake was her little piece of paradise and she took great joy in a quick swim after cutting the grass and tending to her beautiful flowers. She had regular conversations with the many birds and other animals she and Stew kept well fed. Family meant everything to Sandra and we take great comfort in the knowledge that she is finally reunited with her daughter, Pam, and her sisters, Gail, Cheryl and Jill. It is hard to imagine a world without Sandra’s infectious laugh, her wittiness and one-of-a-kind personality. We are better people for having known her and all share in the loss of this beautiful soul. May she rest in peace finally without pain or suffering. The family thanks all those involved with her care. Sandra was very appreciative of their time and efforts. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her memory by cheque or online to Maison McCulloch Hospice, Ronald McDonald House or Shriners Hospital for Children-Canada.
