DEQUANNE, Jeannine Lucille (née Lavoie)

It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing on May 30, 2023, at Villa St-Gabriel at the age of 96 years. Daughter of the late John & late Bernadette (née Michaud) Lavoie. Wife of 62 years to the late Aurel Dequanne (predeceased January 2009). Loving mother of Sharon (Ronald Lafond). Predeceased by her son Jean and her siblings Adelard (late Solange), Rene (late Hazel), Pauline (late Richard Meehan), Normand and Bernadette (Late Rene Leroux). Cherished grandmother of Michel and Trevor and great grandmother to Alexie, Emilie, Michel Jr, and Isabelle. Mom was a very kind and generous woman. She taught many how to sew, knit and do embroidery (which she called fancy work). Everyone was always welcome in her home. It was a happy place. Neighbors and acquaintances would not think twice about stopping in and showing her their babies or children. People really enjoyed her company. Cooking was a skill she perfected, and we all enjoyed her meals, especially her baked beans. Her favorite jobs were being a mother, grandmother and then a great grandmother. She would cherish these children until her last breath. Of course, none of them could do anything wrong. They were loved completely. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many. We now picture her in heaven with her loved ones sitting down and playing a mad game of Euchre. Oh, the good times they had. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the PSWs, nursing staff, doctors, and housekeeping staff at St-Gabriel’s Villa for helping her through the last few years of her life.
