October 8 1945 – September 23 2020

On September 23rd at 3:20 pm our world came crashing down.  Cameron “Butch” Dittburner, at the age of 74, died suddenly at home.   He was married to the love of his life, Isabella “Bella” (nee Lirette) for 55 solid and wonderful years.  Cam was a proud, private, kind, and gentle soul who took great pride in his family and his work.  His quick wit, and wonderful sense of humour always led to some fun teasing of those he loved.  Anyone who knew him, knew that his "boys" were his world.  Butch, as he is lovingly called by his family, will always be remembered by his son Troy (Kim).  He was “The Best Papa in the World" to his grandchildren Tyrus-Kameron, Riley-James, and Alister-Cru (in heaven).
He is fondly remembered by sisters Elaine (late husband Alvin Weiman), Eunice “Mopsy” (late husband Allan Howard) and brothers, the late Wilmer (the late Donna-Lynne) the late Wally (Gwen), and the late Lloyd (Loralei). He also rejoins his late parents Edgar and Alma, and late nephews Bryan and Russell.
We know that his faithful pup Buttons, who keeps looking out the window, will greatly miss her daddy.  Butch will be deeply missed by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends.  As a neighbour of 50 years said, “ Butch is the glue of the neighbourhood and his absence will be felt by all”.
Early on, Butch had his own trucking business, and the stories he could tell about his many adventures were always a pleasure to listen to.  He then worked at the Sudbury Airport as part of the Fire Crash Crew and Maintenance, making many lifelong friends and indulging his love of airplanes.  In these most recent years, Butch had been working at Air Support, where he was an integral part of their team.  We know he will be greatly missed by his many co-workers.
His favourite past times were snowmobiling, playing golf with his life-long friend Frank, and spending lazy days fishing with his buddies.  Butch also loved his garden and birds, always taking the time to teach his grandsons the names of the birds at his feeders.
Always the patient teacher with his son and grandsons, he passed on his love of planes to them not only through books but also by pointing them out by name as they flew by in the sky.
“There is a huge void in me since the angels sent from God came from heaven and took you away.  The only comforts I have is that God made you whole again, the suffering has ended and that you are now with our grandson Alister-Cru.  Our love for each other will keep me strong and our beautiful memories will calm me as I sleep.  Till we meet again my love, always your wife” Bella
Troy wants to thank his Dad for, “Teaching me and making me the better man I am today" His grandsons will always remember his voice calling after them "Slow down Charlie Brown."
When saying his final good-bye to Papa, TK told his Nana, “Papa is not gone, this is just his body, his soul is in heaven..." and while touching his heart, he said “...he will always be here, in our hearts forever.”  The boys want their Papa to know, "When I catch a fish, I will always remember you" and "Whenever a plane goes by, I will think of you."
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful paramedics who tried for a miracle and to the nurses and Dr. at HSN for their diligence and support.
In keeping with Butch and Bella’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
To share your condolences and memories, the family has opened up, Cam Dittburner’s Facebook page.  The family invites you to share your favorite memories and to post pictures of Butch.  In lieu of flowers and to honour his deceased grandson, donations to Butterfly Wings Perinatal Bereavement Services are welcomed. https://www.butterflywings.ca/donate
Due to COVID restrictions a celebration of Cam’s life will be held at a later date.
We are all left with a tremendous hole in our hearts but are comforted to know that Butch will get to teach his grandson the fine art of fishing with his brothers and nephews in heaven.

A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from our family tree
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times,
The laughter, the song.
The good life I lived
While I was strong.
Continue my heritage,
I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely
The sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease,
My soul is at rest.
Remembering all,
How I truly was blessed
Continue traditions,
No matter how small.
Go on with your life,
Don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly,
So keep up your chin,
Until the day comes
We’re together again”
