1920 - 2022

Doris was born on June 17,1920 in the town of Tillsonburg Ontario; the daughter of Ida and George Howard (predeceased). She was the oldest of three having outlived brothers Melvin and Jack Howard.  She married Flying Officer Jacob (Buster) Dyck in 1941 and became the mother of William (1944) and Gloria (1946). Following Buster's discharge from service in 1945 they lived in Ajax Ontario for the next four years while Buster attended University. His graduation and subsequent employment brought them to Sudbury where his entire career was spent with Inco. 1952 saw the move to the Lively home followed shortly thereafter by the acquisition of the Black Lake cottage that provided a second home for their remaining lives. Doris was a devout member of Trinity United Church having served many years with the United Church Women (UCW). She and Buster spent many enjoyable years with the Lively square dance group where many lifelong friends were established. After Buster's passing in 1975 Doris remained in the family home until about 2012 after which she shared residency with her children until Feb. 2017. Doris' final home became Fairview Manor in Almonte, Ontario. Doris is survived by son William and wife Maureen and daughter Gloria (Hullin) and husband Terry. She is Grandmother to Jeffery, Terry (Cindy), Lori (Richard), Robert and Kathryn and Great Grandmother to Alyshia (Kas) and special grandmother to Nathan and Danielle.  Doris spent many years gardening and maintaining her pristine yard on First Avenue for more than 60 years. Doris will be well remembered as a friendly hardworking dedicated wife, mother, Grandmother, and Great grandmother. Doris will find her final resting place beside her parents in Tillsonburg at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations to Fairview Manor (c/o Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation, 75 Spring St., Almonte Ont. KOA 1A0) would be greatly appreciated.
