EVERITT, M. Joan (nee Lawrence) - In loving memory of Joan Everitt who passed away at St Joseph's Villa in Sudbury on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 formerly of Coniston in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Ernest Everitt, who passed away December 25th, 2008. Loving mother of Richard (Maria Rispoli) of Pinawa, and daughter Norma (Hubert Lavallee) of Calgary. Devoted grandmother to Louisa-Joan Everitt of Ottawa, and to Melissa (Constantin) Georgopoulos and Sara Lavallee of Calgary. She is predeceased by her parents John and Hazel Lawrence (Manwell), and her sister Helen Sutton, all of Sudbury. She is survived by her brother John Lawrence of Toronto, and her sister Edna Sturgeon of Nanaimo, British Columbia, and by her many nieces and nephews. Joan was born in Sudbury in 1931. She married her husband Ernest (Ernie) in Sudbury. They lived first on Wembley Drive, then Lockerby, before settling in Coniston for 48 years. She worked briefly for the Sudbury Clinic before devoting her full attention to raising her family. Mom was an avid reader and put her skills to work as a librarian at the Coniston Public Library for twenty years. Mom accompanied and supported her husband's work as a long time board member and officer of the Coniston Credit Union, later to become the Northern Credit Union. During their retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling to the prairies to visit family. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Saint Joseph's Villa for their kind and compassionate care of Mom. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or after 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Funeral Services in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3rd at 11:30 a.m. 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Interment will be at the St. Johns Cemetery in Garson, on Friday, September 4th at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Arthritis Society, or to St. Joseph's Villa, would be most appreciated.
