1939-2022

The family announces, with sorrow, the death of their father, grandfather, and friend, Sam Faught. He passed away peacefully in Sudbury on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at the age of 82 years. Loving father of Clinton (Jenny), Tanya (Jason John), Michael (Rosanna), and Matthew (Angela). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Abbey, Kasey, Nicholas, Jordan, Liam and Logan.

The youngest son of John and Annabelle (nee Leach) Faught, Sam was born and raised in Cobden, Ontario, and worked as a salesman most of his career, travelling and experiencing the beautiful Canadian landscape while he worked. He is survived by his sisters Anne Anderson and Lorna (Mac) Burwell, sisters in law Donna and Barbara Faught, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters: Isobel Faught and Bernice Eade, and six brothers, Elmer, Ross, Harry, Murray, Arnold and Ward.

Sam “the Eagle” Faught was known for his witty sense of humor and quirky one liner sayings. Always the center of his family’s jokes and pranks, he created endless memories for his family. He greatly enjoyed his hobbies of photography, fishing, and hunting (especially spending time at the Ottawa Valley hunt camp with his nephew Jack), listening to country music, and playing golf (but not without his “red pen” to record his “should have scored” score, and his “green pen” for his “actual score”). Sam was also passionate about eagles and the Snowbirds Air Show. Even with all of these hobbies, nothing brought him more joy than being around his children, grandchildren and extended family. Family meant the world to Sam and he would talk about his family to anyone who would listen. He was also very proud of his 40 years of sobriety and cherished the friendships he made through his sponsorships over the course of those years.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff and residents of St Joseph’s Villa; especially to his special friend, Alberta. You all made his time there memorable and we thank you for taking care of our dad when we couldn’t be there.

As Sam would say, “Adios Amigos” everyone.
