FURCHNER, George Carl (Bud) - In loving memory of George Carl (Bud) Furchner, 78 years, who passed away Friday, September 11th, 2009 at Sudbury, Ontario. Husband of Léanne Deschatelets of Sudbury. Dearest father of Douglas and wife Lynda of Hamilton, Mark and wife Michele of Sarnia, and of Tracey Furchner and husband Terry Ites of Marengo, Iowa. Dear step-father of Daniel Poirier and wife Dianne of Sudbury, Yves Poirier of North Bay, Lynne Legault-Beauchamp of Sturgeon Falls and Louise Poirier and husband Anthony Davey of Toronto. Adored by grandchildren Emily, Katie, Nicole, Courtney, Joël, Crystale, Mattieu, Sydney, Greta and Zoé and great granddaughter Willow. Their “Poppa“ will always live in their hearts. Son of George Herman Furchner, predeceased in 1992 and Alice James Furchner, predeceased in 1947. Brother of Charles (wife Joyce predeceased in 2000) of Whitefish, Nancy and husband Harold Meredith of Gravenhurst. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in St. Paul, Minn. USA in 1931, Bud was raised in Sudbury and educated at Sudbury Mining and Technical School, specializing in Trades. He joined the U.S. Air Force 1950 to 1954, serving at Tripoly North Africa during the Korean Conflict in an Aerial Resupply and Communications Squadron. Bud married Margaret Young in 1955 and Léanne Deschatelets in 1984. He worked for INCO from 1954 as an Instrument Man and Maintenance Foreman for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He was an active member of the Minnow Lake Lions Club where he served on the Board of Directors. Memorial Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Saturday, October 17th, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. Donations to the Sudbury Hospice would be appreciated. (Friends may call Saturday, October 17th after 3:00 p.m.).
