It is with heavy hearts our family announces the passing of our dear Richard Girard on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Vikki Girard (née Godfrey) for 50 years. Loving father of Diane Ryan (Steve Ryan) and Paul Girard (Marlene Ducharme). Proud Pépère of Jason and Meghan Ryan. Predeceased by his parents Roméo and Ida Girard (née Dequanne), his sisters, Vivianne and Diane Girard. Survived by his siblings, Claudette Cotnam (late Murray), Lorraine Girard (Brian Croydon), Lynn Brosseau (Claude Brosseau), Marcel Girard (Tammy Bouffard Girard) and his mother-in-law Arva Judd Godfrey.
A gentle soul who thought of everyone else before himself. He dedicated his life to his family. Nothing was more important to him than his JJ and Meg. After an early retirement from Falconbridge mine, he spent countless hours doing crafts with his wife, either doing the work or giving orders!!
He enjoyed having coffee in his gazebo with his friends & former co-workers. Early retirement gave him quality time to spend his loved ones. He enjoyed camping in Massey with his son Paul & Paul’s wife Joanne Majcher (Predeceased 2018); Richard thought the world of Jo.
As per Richard’s wishes there will be no funeral or service. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. If so desired donations in Richard’s memory can be made directly to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted with Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.
