On November 11th, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, Gerald “Jerry” Philip Gorman is finally at peace.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents Philip and Irene. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his brother Ron and his wife Bonnie, his children Michelle and her husband Darren, Chris and his wife Danya and Corrie and her husband Paul. He is the proud grandpa of Luca and Sofia, step grandpa of Jacob and Abbie and dog grandpa of Ham.
Jerry was born in Thunder Bay, ON in 1946 and moved to Sudbury in his early 20’s. He began his career working for Bell Canada. He then spent 29 years working in the Copper Refinery at INCO. Prior to his retirement, his career led him to Leuschen Transportation where he wore many hats; school bus driver and instructor, first aid trainer and Wheel-Trans driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing small engines, tinkering around the yard and in his workshop, playing floor hockey, umpiring baseball, meeting with his Saturday morning coffee club and enjoying a cold beer after a long day.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and St. Joseph’s Villa who made sure that Jerry felt safe, comfortable, and loved for the last year of his life. Donations to St. Joseph’s Foundation Sudbury would be greatly appreciated. At Jerry’s request, no service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
