It is with a great sadness that the family and members of L’Arche Sudbury share the news that Roma Griffin has died. Roma was the daughter of Catherine (McNeil) and Gerald Griffin, both predeceased. Roma leaves behind her three siblings: Ron CSB, Nikki (Charles) Landra and Lynn “sister” (George) Livingston. In addition to her immediate family Roma will be missed by the many friends she shared life with during her 40 years at L’Arche Sudbury.
Roma was one of three founding members of the L’Arche Sudbury community in 1982. Her amazing gift of welcome helped create one of the hallmarks of the community. Roma had a great propensity for gathering people around her and was most happy when partaking in a sing-song or party. Her staunch faith was a value she shared readily and practiced daily.
Roma had a positive impact on all those who knew her and she will be forever remembered for her deep sense of caring and love of family and friends.
Due to COVID restrictions her life will be celebrated at a later date when we can honour Roma in the way she would want us to; with prayer and a party.
