In Loving Memory of Lloyd Alfred Hartley 84 years, Thursday, May 27th, 2010 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital. Born March 20th, 1926 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Lloyd came to Sudbury in 1951 and worked for INCO retiring after 36 years. He diamond drilled, raised bore, in-hole drilling and foreman for many years. He was a number one soldier, has the medals to show. Lloyd was wounded in action three times and went to war at the tender age of 16. He was the guard in charge of 'Nazi S.S. Major General Kirk Meyer' who was charged for giving the orders to shoot 18 soldiers from Lloyd's regiment, 'The North Nova Scotia Highlanders'. Lloyd was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #564 Lockerby, the War Pensioners of Canada, the Veterans UN-NATO Canada, the Nickel Lodge #427 AF & AM, the Order of the Eastern Star Algoma Chapter #129 and the INCO Quarter Century Club. Lloyd leaves behind the love of his life Sylvia, and children Lloyd Jr., Alfred, Allen Paul, Gary, Craig, Dennis, Dale, Wanda, Beverley and Marilyn. He will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Dear brother of Joyce, Julian, Lorraine, Edward and Lawrence and the mother of his children Eva Hartley. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Monday, May 31st, 20l0 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday under the auspices of the War Pensioners of Canada.
