IRELAND, Robert Stanley - Born September 26th, 1945, passed away with calmness and dignity on December 31st, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Belleville and spent his early years in the Sudbury area. He joined the Navy in 1963 and retired in 1983. In 1983 he started his business H.S.R.S. Rescue Survival. His work took him to many parts of Canada and the world. Each year his work took him to Ontario for his “Ontario Tour“ where Bob and his partner Paul Beattie trained Ministry Staff in underwater escape training. He enjoyed the time spent in Ontario visiting friends and relatives and golfing at many locations across Ontario. Bob was a kind gentle and caring man who was well respected by family, friends and colleagues. He enjoyed spending time around his pool with his granddaughters Shay and McKenzie and hosting family barbecues. He enjoyed spending time at our Friends Pub with friends and his loyal canine friend “The Girl Dog Little Person with Hair“. He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Nina (Blake) and brother, Lee. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; stepson, Marcel and grandson Sean and granddaughters; Shay and McKenzie; great- granddaughter Elayh; sibilings, Barbara (Merv Calback) of Naughton, Ron (Laurel) of Naughton; Pat of Lively and Nancy (Denis Beauchamp) of Naughton. Sadly missed by nieces & nephews; Rob Kingston, Kathy Kingston, Kristen Ireland and Ryan Ireland. At Bob's request there will be no funeral or visitation. A memorial service will be held on January 8th, 2010 at 2-5 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, Highway number 7, Darthmouth.
