Kirkwood, Ila Mae

KIRKWOOD, Ila Mae (née Barnes) - Passed Thursday, June 25, 2009 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82 years. Mae was a strong woman dedicated to her family and friends. She was always involved in bowling, dart leagues, the legion Women's Auxiliary, where she was President for a number of years and countless volunteer hours at legion functions. Mae was well known in the community either as someone's bus driver, YBC coach, colour party marching member or avid sports fan. She attended, and at one time, played hockey and baseball. Mae and Bob were proud to be a part of the community and they have touched many lives. It's a comfort to know that they will be reunited for one more dance. Daughter of the late George and of the late Etta (née Jewitt) Barnes. Wife of the late Robert Kirkwood, predeceased in 1995. Loving mother of Susanne Kirkwood and Sheryl Carter (Dave) both of Sudbury, James Kirkwood (Joyce), Sheila Erbersdobler (Fred) and Sherry Kirkwood all of Azilda, Sharon Manion (Brad) of Moorefield and Jo- Anne Robertson of Burlington. Dear sister of Bernice Thorburn (Walter), Bill “William” Barnes (Pat) and Bruce Barnes (Marilyn) all of Orillia and Joyce Stewart (Bill) of Sudbury. Predeceased by her brothers Chester, John and Wayne. Sadly missed by her 13 grandchildren and her 8 great- grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691, R R 15, CHELMSFORD, Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, Chelmsford.
