It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our family Patriarch, George Walter Klem, Age 75. He passed away peacefully October 6, 2021, at Health Sciences North, with family by his side.

George had a huge passion for trains. His hands were always busy building the most beautiful and elaborate train layouts. He was the kindest man with the biggest heart you’d ever meet.

George made friends everywhere he went, and he loved being a storyteller. Often the stories were about his days fishing and moose hunting, his 36 years as a paramedic, his grandchildren, and trains of course.

He loved picking wild blueberries and camping with his family.  He cherished his family above all. He was a provider for his family from a very young age.

George was always seen with a smile on his face, even through difficult times with his health, he never complained. We will hold his love for us in our hearts forever.

George is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Diane, Children: Ron (Calli), Stephen (Joanna), Jennifer (Elliot). Grandchildren: Alexandra, Aedan, and Stephen. Sister Gail (David predeceased). George is Predeceased by his Dear Mother, Carol, and Brother Gordon. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff at Health Sciences North, the doctors and especially nurses who helped us all during the most difficult final days with compassion.

The family also thanks the health care workers at Extendicare for their kindness and care for George over the years. He was loved by both residents and staff there. He loved to play bingo, always winning prizes for his Diane.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Donations made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society in George’s memory are welcome in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted with Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.
