KONEFAT, Elaine Helena (nee Koltok) - Passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga, of complications following cancer surgery in May. Predeceased by her husband, Steve with whom she built a successful business, Huron Industrial Insulation Ltd., with operations in Sudbury and Collingwood. Daughter of the late John and Rose Koltok, Elaine was born in Poland and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, along with her brother and six sisters. Elaine was a high- spirited, hard-working woman who enjoyed life to the full. She tackled her illness with the inspirational level of strength and optimism that were her hallmarks. Elaine was predeceased by her brother John and sisters Ann and Bea; survived by sisters Toni (Mary), Kay, Chris, and Jessie, her “Buddy“, with whom she shared a special bond; her sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Elaine wanted to acknowledge the love and support provided by her many friends and neighbours, with special thanks to Dr. Irish at Toronto General Hospital. Friends may call at the “EGLINTON CHAPEL“ of the MCDOUGALL & BROWN FUNERAL HOMES, 1812 Eglington Ave. West (at Dufferin St.) 416-782-1197 on Wednesday Aug. 26 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Thursday Aug. 27 at 2 pm. Interment Prospect Cemetery. Donations may be made in Elaine's memory to Lupus Canada or the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.
