In Celebration of the Life of Marija (nee Hrelja) Kulinski, June 30, 1927 - February 10, 2022. After a long and full life, she died peacefully at home on the crisp starry evening of  February 10th just  140 days short of her 95th birthday with family by her side.

Marija was born in (Lovic) a small village in the Parish of (Vivodina) Croatia (Hrvatska) in 1927.  Dear  daughter of Jura and Jelena (Viher). Dear sister to Katarina, Jana and Drago all predeceased. She was a courageous young woman who crossed the Atlantic by Air and landed in the dead of winter at the Sudbury Airport in January 1960 not knowing what to expect.  There she met her soon to be Polish husband  Jozef waiting for her.  They married and started  their family in Garson. Marija took on her new role as a wife and then soon after a mother of 3.  She made some wonderful friends as they built a new life amongst the other immigrants of that time.  She quickly adjusted to the Canadian seasons and started to learn different languages along the way.  Marija loved to cook for her family and friends and fed all that came to their home.

She made the best home made bread, blueberry cake, apple strudel and our favorite walnut bread called Povatica. Her skills at making dried, smoked sausages and prosciutto along with homemade cheese, filled an endless charcuterie board when visitors dropped in.  Her farm like skills showed in her love of gardening, which produced many canning jars for the winter supply. Mom was our jack-of-all-trades, if you needed a solution she was your go to person from mending a skirt to driving a tractor on the farm to baking for someone's special occasion to lending a helping hand. Her love and gentle disposition for her family was without limit.  Marija was a loving wife of the late Jozef Kulinski, Loving mother of the late Marjan.

She is survived by her son Joseph and daughter Lillian Lebo (husband Ivan) and cherished Baba to Marija and Ivan.  She was an aunt and great aunt (Teta) and will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews here and abroad.  Marija was a member of the CWL in Garson at the St. John's Parish for many years, then transitioned and became a member of Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church where she will now celebrate her last mass followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery in Garson.

Due to the pandemic a Celebration of her life will be hosted at a later date come summer. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, Monday, February 14, 2022 from 6-8 PM.
