The family announces with great sorrow his passing at his crib in Sudbury, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the age of 80 years.
Husband of the late Murielle (née Maisonneuve) Laferrière. Son of the late Siméon and of the late Elizabeth (née Leclair) Laferrière. Loving father of Patrick Laferrière (Leslie McLeod) of Sudbury and Joëlle Laferrière-Watson (Ian Watson) of Ottawa. Dear brother of Edouard Laferrière (late Yollande), Roland Laferrière, Conrad Laferrière (late Nicole) and Lucille Louttit (Alfred). Predeceased by his siblings Yvette Brunet (Alcide), Léo-Paul Laferrière (Jeannine Tessier) and André Laferrière (Denise).
Cherished grandfather of Trent, Cameron and Deklan. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gerry was a LEGEND at Cedar Green Golf Club having worked there for over 50 years. He was also a Legend within the Golf world, mentoring and helping other superintendents with special advice and knowledge accumulated over his career, always excited and willing to help others!
He was revered and respected by all fellow Greenskeepers like no other and left an unforgettable mark on every single person he’s ever met, all over the WORLD! We will never forget his creative way with words, his hilarious quotes, unmistakable laugh and most importantly his love and affection he had for everyone in his life! We will miss you Dad,….may Heaven’s doors burst open for you buddy and may the beer be cold! In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation.
