On the night of September 26th, 2021, we bid farewell to an incredible woman. Erica Lagios was a beloved mother, partner, sister, daughter, auntie and friend. A leader, educator, environmentalist; self-proclaimed tree hugger and bird nerd best describes this warrior of social and environmental justice. We remember the vibrancy, energy, kindness and force of will with which she lived her life.  Determined to the very end, she battled her illness with courage and grace. While our hearts ache with longing, we take solace in, and will continue to celebrate, the ways in which she changed us and the world around her. We love you, Erica. Erica will be especially remembered by her partner Stephen, daughter Caleigh, parents Edith and George, sister Andrea (and family: Andrew, Nathan and Jordan), parents-in-law Fern and Rob, and her extended family. We are thankful for the nurses and caregivers in her life that helped provide comfort, compassion and dignity to Erica and her family in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice are appreciated. We will celebrate Erica’s life at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday October 1st with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., remembrance in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at 2 p.m. (Face masks are mandatory), followed by internment (family only please) and a light reception at Bryston’s on the Park in Copper Cliff at 4 p.m. As a reflection of Erica’s youth, vibrancy and characteristic non-convention, we invite everyone to dress wearing colours and patterns of the season.
