LEUSCHEN, Gerald “Gerry“ - Remembering Gerald “Gerry“ Leuschen, who passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Sudbury at the age of 55. An active member of the business community, Gerry was co-owner of Leuschen Transportation Ltd. and Nickel City/Timmins International Truck Centres. Having spent his life in the transportation industry, he was passionate about his work and spent his career committed to safe bussing for both school children and the special needs community. A life long resident of Sudbury, he lent consistent and generous support to not only his employees, but to businesses and community groups. Gerry was happiest in his home, surrounded by the nature and beauty of Long Lake. He loved to follow and debate current events, enjoyed cooking and was an avid wood worker. He will be missed for his infectious, mischievous humour and booming laughter. Son of Nick and Cecile Leuschen, Gerry was an especially devoted son to his mother. He is survived by his long time, beloved companion Betty Whitmore, and former wife, Diane Leuschen. Father of Christopher (Monique Villeneuve) and Laura. Brother of the late Lillian Tomini (Denis), Dennis (Janice), and Elaine Laframboise (Robert). He is also survived by Betty's sons Kay Whitmore Jr.(wife Genea and children) and Keith Whitmore (wife Kim and children). Gerry had a large extended family and was an uncle, cousin and nephew to many. As per Gerry's wishes, there will be no public viewing and funeral services. A private family service was held at LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St., Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PLAN Canada or the Blue Door Cafe.
