It’s with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Robert MacNeill on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Sylvia MacNeill (née Maki). Loving father of James, Ron (Tammy née Marcotte) and Chris. Cherished grandfather of Hailey, Ryan, Jessica.
Bob was born in Sudbury on July 8, 1940 to the late Ronald and Helen MacNeill (née Hocken). The eldest brother of Janet Edwards (predeceased) Desmond, Marg Dumont (John Paul), Ruth Lees (Vince) both predeceased and Karen Butterworth (Ron).
Following in his fathers’ footsteps he joined the Canadian Army at the age of 17. He was a proud member of the Queens Own Rifles, stationed in Calgary, Alberta and in Germany. Upon his return he was hired at Falconbridge Nickel Mines. Bob was a respected member of the Mine Rescue Team, having 34 years of service.
Dad lived life to the fullest. The memories will live on in the hearts of many. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
