Mayo, Cyril Alan

In loving memory and joyful gratitude of Cyril, 77 years, who passed away peacefully March 22, 2025 at the Ottawa General Hospital with his “favourite darling daughter” Erin by his side. Beloved son of Norma (Hildebrandt) and Hubert Mayo, both predeceased. Dear brother of Lyle (wife Kimberley), Maureen (husband Ron) and Timothy (predeceased), all from Sudbury. Treasured by Marlowe, Erin and Adam.

Proudly from Sudbury, Cyril made Ottawa home for the last 38 years. He worked for the government of Canada and in his retirement led a fulfilling life with many diverse passions and hobbies. A lifelong hockey player, he also enjoyed golfing, handiwork, camping, walking his dog friends Pepper, Dash, and Rooney, attending concerts, jogging in and around the neighbourhood and putting in hours working as a range officer at the RA Gun Club. Of everything, he prized his time with family most. Always a twinkle in his eye and quick witted, he is deeply missed by all of his friends and family. His girls, Marlowe and Erin, were particularly lucky to have him so close by and involved in their lives. Cyril could often be found with his pride and joy, Marlowe Maizie. They enjoyed each other’s company immensely and spent much of that time together laughing.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ottawa Cancer Foundation in Cyril’s name. A celebration of Cyril’s life will take place at Glebe St. James Fraser Hall (650 Lyon Street), Saturday June 28, 2025 from 2:00-4:00, directly followed by a get together to remember and honor a life well-lived at Glebe Central Pub (779 Bank Street).
