Mazzuca, Frank

September 11, 2009 87

MAZZUCA, Frank Roger - In Loving Memory of Frank Mazzuca 87 years Thursday, September 9th, 2009 at the SRH- St.Joseph's Health Centre. Frank came to Capreol from Italy in 1929. He started with CN Rail in 1943 and opened his furniture store in 1950. He embodied the spirit of a true entrepreneur with his inspired work ethic and commitment to customer service. Frank married the love of his life Rose (nee Del Papa) in Capreol in 1948. The other love in his life was politics. He was first elected to the Capreol council in 1957, later served as Mayor for 22 years and then became Vice-Chair and Chair of the Sudbury Regional Council until amalgamation. Grounded in the realities of growing up in the depression he sought the most cost saving and revenue generating business plans in his own life and when dealing with taxpayer's money. In an age where some people embrace grey Frank was black and white about what he believed and who he was. His no nonsense approach balanced budgets and made him a well-respected municipal leader who was regarded as honest and tenacious. His wit and wisdom enlightened, entertained and empowered all who knew him. His efforts and leadership were acknowledged as he received a Queen's jubilee Medal and Rotary Paul Harris Award for improving the human condition. We continue to grow as a community on the Frank Foundation of loving your family, helping your friends and never fearing “to tell it like it is.” Beloved husband of Rose (Del Papa) predeceased 1993. Loving father of Frank Jr. (wife Lynn). Cherished grandfather of Todd (wife Maggie), Tina (husband John Svalina), Trisha, and Tara (husband Jason Wong) and great grandchildren Johnny, Anna and Nyla. Sadly missed by special friend and caregiver Bernice. Dear son of the late Fiore and Giuseppina (Montemurro) Mazzuca both predeceased. Dear brother of Mario (predeceased 2000) (wife Elaine), Val (wife Violet), Albert (wife Rose), and Dellie (husband Armand Sbrega).Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
