It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy McAuley, who passed away peacefully at his home in the Philippines, at the age of 62. He was the son of the late Gordon and Jean McAuley.  Dear brother of Karen (Ray predeceased), Clifford (Loretta), Linda (Bob), Patty, Gloria, Don (Melanie), and Kevin (Karen). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Billy made many life-long friends both growing up in Northern Ontario and as he travelled throughout Canada and the world.  He would do anything for everyone and they would do the same for him in turn.  He lived his live exactly as he wanted and without regret.  Although we will have a formal service, he would have hoped that his friends go and have a final B’Wana in his name.  He retired several years ago and lived his dream life, spending summers in Canada and going back to the Philippines when it started to get cold.

Billy created a legacy and many great memories for his family, friends and especially all of the kids with his many camps.  He was stubborn and quirky, and kind and generous in a combination that everyone adored.  He claimed to love to be alone but secretly loved it when the camp was full of kids and family, and he was the life of the party … until bedtime at 8pm.  He would always bring gifts and candy for all of the kids who called him Great Uncle Billy (emphasis on the Great) regardless of whether they were related or not. We will truly miss his big smile, big heart, and that funny laugh when he really got going.

Friends may gather at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street Sudbury, on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
