It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kenneth Wayne McAuley, 72 years old, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his home after his courageous battle with cancer.

Ken was born September 14, 1949, to the late Mack and Doris McAuley, in Haileybury, Ontario. Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Jackie Cecchini, whom he loved dearly, as well as his sons, Malcolm McAuley (Sara), Jason Cecchini (Stephanie), and Korbin Cecchini-McAuley (Valerie). Cherished grandfather of Aiden, Liam, Frankie, and Dakotah.

Ken leaves behind brothers Jake (Brenda) McAuley, and Rogue (Bev) McAuley. His loving sister, Cheryl Sawchyn, who passed before him. He will be missed by his brothers and sisters in-law, Gary (Rose Marie) Cecchini, Pam (Richard) Humphrey, Tommy (Barb) Cecchini, Carolyn (Cliff) Pennock, Tracy (Andy) Roy, Connie (Michael) Conlon, as well as those that passed before him, Mary-Lou (Leo) Arseneau, Debbie (Bud) Schmidt, and Donna (Brian) Sawyer. Uncle Ken will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

While his passing comes before any of us wanted, we find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his parents and many others who passed before him. Heaven has gained one of the kindest men to have graced the earth. Those who knew him will reflect on memories of Ken’s warm and gentle spirit, his sense of humour, love of the outdoors, passion for hockey, and anything performed by The Rolling Stones.

The family extends gratitude to many staff at the Sudbury Cancer Centre and Bayshore Home Care Services for their support throughout Ken’s journey. As per Ken’s wishes, there will be no service, however a celebration of life for family and close friends will be arranged at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted with Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.
