February 19, 1931 – November 16, 2024 (93)
With sadness but gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Jean McKay on November 16, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Villa, surrounded by her loving children. Though the past few years were a struggle as Alzheimer’s slowly took her from us, she never lost her radiant smile, gentle kindness, and the warmth that defined her. Jean leaves us with countless cherished memories that we will carry in our hearts forever.
Jean was the devoted wife of the late Raymond McKay (predeceased November 1991). She was a beloved mother of Kathy Landriault (Todd), Larry McKay (Pam), Marilyn Burrell (Lester) and Diane Staalstra (Tony). She was a proud and loving Gramma of 10 grandchildren - Lorrie Anne, Heather, Krista, Kayla, Sean, Laura, Brady, Carly, Ashley and Gavin – and was further blessed with 18 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised on the family farm in Mills Township, Manitoulin Island. Daughter of Llewellyn and Lila Honess. Dear sister of Calvin Honess (Margaret), Ken Honess (Bessie), Jessie Bell (Floyd), Blanche Purvis (Blair) and Mary Bond (Willis), all predeceased. Survived by her older sister Helen McColeman (Dalton predeceased)
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their care and kindness over the past two years. A special thank you to Renee, whose compassion and dedication truly makes the residents feel like family.
In accordance with Jean’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private family burial will take place.
To honor Jean’s generous and loving spirit, her family invites you to celebrate her memory by baking some homemade goodies to share with others, smiling at a stranger, or spreading kindness wherever you go.
“A limb has fallen from our family tree, but the roots remain strong in the love you gave.
Always on our minds, forever in our hearts.”
